Ultrawear/ Ferritic-Nitrocarburize (FNC):
This process is applied to ferrous metal parts to provide wear (anti-galling) and some corrosion resistance. It also increases fatigue properties and is specifically designed to enhance wear for parts such as forging or stamping dies, as well as fixtures, gears, slides, molds etc. The process creates a metallurgical case structure that is composed of the following two layers: Compound Zone & Nitrogen Diffusion Zone
Ultrawear Plus:
This process gives you all the benefits of the Ultrawear process, but it increases the corrosion resistance by using our Ultracoat brand corrosion preventative, which has been formulated exclusively for The Woodworth Group. When used along with the Ultrawear process this Ultracoat provides a durable, self-healing corrosion resistant film to the nitro-carburized surface of the treated part. This Ultracoat does not create a surface barrier like traditional coatings, but penetrates deep into the micro porous nitride layer locking into the porosity without adding any significant growth to the treated part. Ultracoat in the porosity of the nitro-carburized case provides a durable corrosion resistant surface that is not only wear resistant, but is not subject to chipping or scratching. |
